FOSTERING SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND BEHAVIORAL GROWTH IN MIDDLE SCHOOL
YMCA Project Cornerstone offers a variety of programs designed to support middle school students during these crucial developmental years. We collaborate with parents and schools to foster a nurturing environment where students can thrive both socially and emotionally.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) CURRICULUM
Middle School is a pivotal time for social and emotional growth. Our trained volunteers or school staff deliver a comprehensive SEL curriculum monthly, aiming to:
- Improve problem-solving skills: Empower students to handle challenges and solve problems effectively.
- Emotional and social regulation: Prove youth with the skills to understand and manage their emotions and social behaviors.
- Enhance decision-making: Strengthen students' planning and responsible decision-making capabilities.
- Boost academic performance: Positively impact academic success through improved social and emotional skills.
Benefits for parent volunteers:
- Build positive relationships: Help students foster more healthy and positive relationships at school.
- Be role models: Serve as caring adult role models for youth.
- Support student well-being: Help students access resources for improved social and emotional well-being.
