Rain or shine, YMCA Camp Campbell’s Outdoor Science School inspires youth through hands-on science and outdoor exploration. As a cabin leader, you’ll mentor students, guide activities, and help create a fun, safe, and engaging camp experience during a five-day stay in the redwoods. All leaders receive a full day of training covering essential skills like behavior management, safety, and group leadership. Applicants must be at least 15, in 10th grade or higher, and in good academic standing.
No prior training is required. Volunteers will arrive the Monday before programming begins. We will cover topics like positive behavior management strategies, child abuse prevention, games, and more!
Step 1: Fill out the online application. We recommend submitting your application no later than two weeks before your specified dates.
Step 2: Get High School Authorization Form signed by members of your school
Step 3: Keep an eye on your email for further instructions.
Applications open in August and close during the middle of May. Application windows will be open for six weeks at a time. If there is a date that interests you, feel free to specify on your application.
Confirmation emails go out every Wednesday and Friday while Outdoor Science School is in session.
