Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Y. Essential in fulfilling our promise to strengthen community, Y volunteers help us innovate to provide relevant responses to the communities’ ever changing needs. They strengthen our leadership by serving on our boards. They build our capacity to serve by leading our annual and capital campaigns. They transform lives by serving as leaders in Y facilities and out in the community.

Each year our YMCAs recognize a select few for their outstanding contributions of time and talent to improve the lives of our youth, adults, families.

YMCA Camp Campbell is honored to recognize Adam Stein for his dedication and service to our camp community!

Adam Stein - 2022 Distinguished Service Award

YMCA Camp Campbell is an extraordinary place full of adventure and learning, nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains and surrounded by historic redwoods. Grounded in his own experiences and memories, Adam Stein brought the magic of Camp Campbell to his family, giving his children a place to play and grow under the forest canopy each summer. What he received from nature and the community of Camp Campbell each year, he’s returned with warm generosity, spirit, and heart. Whether building picnic tables for guests to use, donating camera equipment for kids to capture nature with their own unique perspective, or planting a tree that has grown to border an amphitheater, Adam has worked to create spaces that are part of the Camper experience. Most recently, Adam donated a gazebo that provides a tranquil reprieve where leaves rustle, birds sing, and life slows down for a moment. Adam donated this gazebo to honor his family and give back to Camp Campbell some of what it has given him and his family over the years. Through his thoughtfulness and generosity, Adam has made a tremendous and enduring impact on the wonder-filled world at YMCA Camp Campbell.
