Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Y. Essential in fulfilling our promise to strengthen community, Y volunteers help us innovate to provide relevant responses to the communities’ ever changing needs. They strengthen our leadership by serving on our boards. They build our capacity to serve by leading our annual and capital campaigns. They transform lives by serving as leaders in Y facilities and out in the community.
Each year our YMCAs recognize a select few for their outstanding contributions of time and talent to improve the lives of our youth, adults, families.

Shaun Stewart - 2022 Distinguished Service Award
Shaun has been part of our East Valley Family YMCA since 2018, first as a volunteer Cycling Group Exercise Instructor, resident A/V tech, and in 2021 joining our Board of Managers. Shaun’s contributions have been vast; he is an outside of the box thinker, always exploring creative ways to promote all East Valley Family YMCA programs, from Group Exercise to Summer camp. He provides ideas and, more importantly, takes the lead on helping execute the vision, most recently, writing a script, recording, and editing the Community Open House promotional video. Shaun brings his personal passions and professional skills to help strengthen our East Valley Family YMCA community.
