OUR PHILOSOPHY

At the Y, child care is more than looking after kids. We nurture their development by providing a safe place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

We believe in engaging children in opportunities and activities that contribute to their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development.

We know that each child develops at his or her own pace, so we pay attention to the individual needs of each child and incorporate fun in everything we do. Parental involvement is encouraged and supported, as we expose children to a variety of opportunities and experiences to help them learn, grow and thrive.

Every day we partner with caring individuals and organizations such as schools, churches, social service agencies and other nonprofits who are committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

OUR STAFF

At the Y, we are caring, competent and experienced. Our hiring practices meet and exceed licensing requirements. We conduct background checks and fingerprint all staff. In addition to any current experience that a staff member may have, we continue to train our staff each year. We are certified in First Aid and CPR.

We also have leadership staff who:

  • Provide assistance in writing monthly curriculum
  • Provide in-service training
  • Conduct Quality Check Visits to each child care program a minimum of three times a year

  • Serve on boards and committees of local and state child care consortiums and advocacy groups
