This is your opportunity to get a taste of all the water activities that YMCA Camp Campbell has to offer. This camp features our exciting new adventure of windsurfing! Ride the waves and learn to surf and windsurf in the same week. Literally get your feet wet with a kayaking adventure and a one-day sailing trip on the bay. Each day of this camp, try a new water sport and enjoy a week of camping under the stars dreaming of what the next day holds.

Are you interested in spending a week high up in the Sierra Nevadas? Do you like the thrill of catching fish? Spend one week camping and fishing. Explore the lakes and streams this beautiful land has to offer with your fishing pole. Long day hikes, sitting by the stream, and learning different fishing techniques will turn this trip into a fisher’s delight.

Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, is one of the most beautiful spots in California. Enjoy kayaking in and around the bay by day and evening around the campfire and camping under the stars. This trip is led by experienced and certified kayak instructors and promises to be one of the highlights of your summer. Our focus is on environmental preservation, character development, honesty, trust, teamwork, and respect. Don’t miss this opportunity. This trip could change your life. (No experience necessary; strong swimming skills a must.)

This three-day program includes kayaking and camping on the Central Coast. Our highly skilled and certified instructor will teach paddling, self-rescue techniques, and kayaking safety in the beauty of Elkhorn Slough. Campers cook, engage in learning circles, and have fun with evening activities while camping at one of the Santa Cruz State Beaches. Space is limited. Sign up early.

July 18-23

Spend your days on the ocean in a 34- to 42-foot sail boat and nights camping along the Monterrey Bay coastline. This exciting camp allows participants the opportunity to learn about the environment while learning basic sailing skills. YMCA Camp Campbell collaborates with Lighthall Charters (a sailing organization with more than 15 years experience) to ensure all campers have a safe and exciting adventure on the sea. Campers stay in State Park Campgrounds and under the guidance of camp staff, learn to cook, camp, sail, and enjoy our beautiful coast.

July 11-16 — Trekkers (Entering Grades 6-7)
August 1-6 — Teens (Entering Grades 8-10)

Surf’s up! This camp is specifically geared for surf beginners. Daily surf lessons (total of four lessons) are held at Club Ed’s Surf School at Manresa State Beach in Santa Cruz. Instructors focus on surfing fundamentals, water safety, and basic skills. YMCA Camp Campbell staff fills the rest of the camp with surf training, ocean and beach activities, and camping and cooking near the beach.

Have you always wanted to learn how to surf? Three days of surfing instruction combined with camping along the coast of Santa Cruz create the summer memory of a lifetime.
