Outdoor Education: Cabin Leaders

CABIN LEADERS WANTED! Click here to Apply Online!

YMCA CAMP CAMPBELL OUTDOOR SCIENCE SCHOOL

  • Earn Service Learning credit to graduate.
  • Impact children’s lives in a positive and effective way.
  • Spend some quality time away from home.
  • Learn to be a leader and be a positive role model for kids.
  • Meet new people your age with similar interests.
  • Enjoy the beauty of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

YMCA Camp Campbell Outdoor Science School is looking for volunteer cabin leaders to assist our staff of credentialed teachers in educating 5th & 6th grade students.

You must be at least a sophomore in high school and have the written permission of your parents and teachers (if under 18) to attend – if you are interested, visit www.tinyurl.com/cabinleader to apply.

We will pick you up at the Central YMCA in San Jose at the beginning of the week, or you may provide your own transport. We spend the entire first day training and preparing for the arrival of the 5th/6th grade students.

Most sessions run for 5 days, beginning with training on the Monday, students arrive on the Tuesday and depart on Friday. Arrival back to San Jose on Friday is around 3:30pm.

What a great opportunity to develop and improve your own leadership skills, and do your part in helping young students grow into the environmentally aware individuals that our planet needs them to be.

  • Download the CCOSS Schedule and choose a week (or two!) that suits your schedule.
  • Visit www.tinyurl.com/cabinleader to apply online.
  • Once you have been accepted, complete your Cabin Leader Registration packet (which will be emailed to you) by getting your teachers’ and parents’ signatures, and you’re all set!
  • Contact the Cabin Leader Coordinators at (831) 338-8829 or cabinleader@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns.
