School-Age Child Care (K-6th)

YMCAs are the nation’s largest provider of child care. We provide high-quality and affordable programs that are family-centered and values-based to nurture children’s healthy development. Our school-age child care programs encourage family involvement through special events, newsletters, parent advisory meetings, and volunteers in the classrooms. The programs are state licensed, and our professional, caring staff meet or exceed licensing regulations for background checks, education and experience.

What it means to participate in YMCA Child Care
Being a part of YMCA Child Care is more than just “care” for a couple of hours afterschool. It means being part of a community that involves the YMCA, school and each family. YMCA child care programs emphasize values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at all age levels. Like all Y programs, child care is open to all, with financial assistance available.

State Licensing
All of our child care sites are licensed by the State of California. Being a licensed facility assures you and your family that your child is in a safe and clean environment. Additionally, the YMCA of Silicon Valley has developed a set of quality standards for all child care sites that far surpass state licensing requirements. All licensing requirements are on hand at each location.

Kinder Care
Our Kindertime Program provides you and your child with a fun, safe and nurturing environment after their kindergarten class. We offer opportunities to learn and explore through play with art, music, science and literature experiences. Our curriculum supports growth in social skills as well as the academic concepts our kindergartners are busy learning. Our student to staff ratio during Kindertime is 8:1 or better.

Before and After School Care
YMCA child care is a great place for children before and after school. We offer you and your child a professional staff and a fun, educational, thematic curriculum in a safe environment. Components of our after-school program include: homework assistance, arts and crafts, group games, science, music, computers, and much more. Activities are age appropriate, and develop self-esteem and social skills. We provide a nutritious afternoon snack for your child as well. Our student to staff ratio during before and after school care is 14:1 or better.

Flexible Schedule to Meet Your Needs
Child care is available on a 2, 3, 4, and 5 day basis, with the option for care during school in-service days, winter and spring breaks, and early-out days. Before school care starts at 6:30am and after school care ends at 6:30pm.
