YMCA child care offers a nurturing, caring environment.

Child Care

YMCAs are the nation’s largest provider of child care. We provide high-quality and affordable programs that are family-centered and values-based to nurture children’s healthy development. Our school-age child care programs encourage family involvement through special events, newsletters, parent advisory committees, and volunteers in the classrooms. The programs are state licensed, and all staff meet or exceed licensing regulations for background checks, education and experience.

We emphasize values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Like all Y programs, child care is open to all, with financial assistance available.

Licensed child care for school-age children (K-8) is offered at Discovery Charter School, Farnham and Fammatre Elementary Schools during the school year. To enroll for this school year or to reserve a spot for next year, contact the YMCA.

The Southwest YMCA strongly believes in teaching the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We are dedicated to building the holistic child through engaging and creative activities and to offering the very best care for your children through state licensed child care programs. Our program focuses on helping foster a well rounded child which can contribute to academic growth by romoting a higher self-esteem, creative thinking and learning, team building, stronger physical and mental skills, and problem solving skills. Out curriculum components include homework assistance, group games, arts and crafts, science, cooking and service learning projects.

Qualified, licensed child care teachers provide high quality experiences for school-age children.

->Winter, Spring, February Breaks

(Grades K–8)
The Southwest YMCA offers child care during the times when children are on these breaks. Activities are based on weekly themes and include fun field trips. Winter, Spring, and February Breaks follow dates of the school calendar. Open to current program participants and non-participants.

->After School

A collaboration of the Southwest YMCA and the City of San Jose, ASEP is a grant-funded after-school program available to children, grades 1-5, for little or no cost to families. Our curriculum fosters the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility while strengthening developmental assets, the building blocks children need to thrive. Highly qualified YMCA staff provide and supervise thematic, child-centered curriculum. Activities include homework assistance, arts and crafts, youth fitness, science, and special club activities.
