Programs: Swimming and Aquatics
The YMCA has been America's leading swim instructor for more than 100 years. But our aquatics programs extend beyond instruction. We also provide recreational and specialty aquatics programs for all ages and abilities, including parent-child classes, water exercise and therapy, and water safety and rescue classes.
The South Valley Family YMCA uses national aquatic program guidelines and certified instructors. For details, please call us at (408) 226-9622, email us, or visit our branch.

Aquatics
The outdoor pool at the South Valley Family YMCA is one of the main attractions for our members. Our 25-yard 6-lane pool is kept at approximately 82 degrees to accommodate the many participants in the wide variety of YMCA programs. YMCA swimmers are asked to read and follow all the pool rules, and to please shower before entering the water. Certified lifeguards are scheduled during pool hours to enforce facility rules, prevent accidents, handle emergency situations, and ensure your safety. |
Lap Swim
Lap swim is for members who wish to use swimming for a workout. Swimmers must be able to swim the full length of the pool continuously without support. If space is available exercising, walking and floating are permitted during lap swim. Workout equipment is available from the lifeguard upon request. Lap swim is for Facility Members age 11 and up. (Ages 9-14 must be able to demonstrate swimming ability of at least 200 yards)

Recreational Swim
Recreation (Rec) swim is for members and guests of all ages. Children age 7 and under must have direct adult supervision and contact in the water at all times. Any youth requiring additional floatation devices must have someone age 14 or older in the water with them. |
