The YMCA cares about and respects teens.

Teen Programs

The YMCA provides teens with personal, academic, social and recreational opportunities in a safe and positive environment.  Our goal is to help build developmental assets, enhance personal and social skills, develop leadership and responsibility, and promote self-esteem in young people so they can thrive.

For more information, please call at (650) 368-4168, email us or visit our YMCA.

->Youth Membership (Ages 13 - 17)

At the YMCA, we value teens. We strive to create positive experiences to help them thrive. Our staff members serve as positive adult role models. Teens interact with their peers, who model responsible behavior in safe, well-supervised settings.

As a teen member, you can participate in a variety of fun, recreational, educational, and enriching activities year-round while socializing with your friends.

For more details, stop by our membership desk or call (650) 368-4168. Financial assistance is available to ensure that no one is turned away due to inability to pay.

->Leadership and Volunteering

We encourage teens to become leaders in their community by offering a variety of leadership and volunteer opportunities that teach responsibility and build self-esteem.

->Fitness Training

When you join our YMCA with a teen membership, we’ll schedule you for a FREE orientation and introduction to FitLinxx, an easy-to-use computerized exercise solution that leads you in your personalized workout program, gives you immediate feedback and motivation, and tracks your progress over time. Get your heart rate up using our cardio or strength training equipment. Or if group exercise classes are more of your speed, join us for an exuberating or relaxing class like Zumba, Kickboxing, Indoor Cycling, or Yoga.

->FLEX

Fitness Leadership Experience (FLEX) is a free program whose goal is to increase the health and fitness awareness of Redwood City's high school youth. The FLEX program exposes teens who have little to no regular physical activity to a fun, interesting, cooperative, health and fitness environment.

Teens will receive instruction and advice about healthy eating and exercise habits, as well as learn how to incorporate healthy living measures into their everyday life. This after-school program is a great way for students to stay in shape and meet new people. FLEX is a free program thanks to the Sequoia Healthcare District.
