Utilizing the research-based Developmental Assets model, Project Cornerstone has a number of school-based programs, trainings, and services which empower and engage youth, parents, and school staff to:

  • improve school climate,
  • reduce bullying, and
  • create vibrant, caring communities of learners.
Engaging Students

Our Asset Building Champions (ABC), Los Dichos, Middle School Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), and Pre-K/TK curriculums foster the development of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) skills in youth including: inclusion, diversity, tolerance, problem solving, respect, and conflict resolution. All of our programs promote a common language to be used throughout the school by youth, staff, and parents.

Our Expect Respect leadership program empowers students to understand, identify, then develop an action plan to combat bullying and peer abuse. See menu at right for information on all these programs.

Engaging Parents/School Volunteers

Parents and caring adults have an opportunity to volunteer through many of our programs, as well as participate in any of the Parent Training and Workshops we offer to school partners. These workshops can be presented as a general “parent education” program or for a specific group such as a PTA, ELAC, or a Principal Coffee. Workshops are available in English, Spanish and/or Vietnamese.

Engaging School Staff

We offer consultation services and staff development workshops to engage teachers and school staff. Training topics include: Introduction to Asset Building; Being UPstanders - Bullying Prevention; SEL and Asset Building; Building Assets on the Playground, and more.

Research-Based Developmental Assets Supports Standards

Based on the research-proven Developmental Assets and Developmental Relationships models, our programs can be utilized as part of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for achieving social and academic outcomes. In addition, Project Cornerstone programs complement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and align schoolwide efforts to improve climate by changing student behavior. Our parent engagement programs, ABC, Los Dichos, and Middle School SEL, have all been aligned with Common Core Standards and CASEL’s 5 core competencies of Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Our programs assist schools and districts with meeting their LCAP requirements around school climate and parent involvement.
