->Group Exercise

We offer over 120 land and water based group exercise classes each week. Join our energetic instructors and welcoming class setting. Enjoy Les Mills Body Pump, Indoor Cycling, Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, Latin Dance, Basic Fitness, Y Boot camp, and many more! Download our current Group Exercise schedule.

->Wellness Center

Meet your personal fitness goals in our Wellness Center. This drop in area is open to all facility members and features cardio machines with personal televisions, free-weights, a full line of strength training machines, certified wellness coaches on site, Fitlinxx computerized tracking system, and much more.


Personal Wellness Services

->Wellness Coaching

Free one-on-one consultation with a knowledgeable wellness coach to explore and plan your path to total wellness. Sign up for an appointment today at the front desk in the Wellness Center or by phone. Appointments are 1.5 hours. By appointment only. Included in facility membership.

->Personal Training

One-on-one instruction with a certified personal trainer, who develops an exercise program to fit your fitness needs and training goals. Your trainer will guide you through a safe workout, monitoring your every move to make sure you are getting the most out of your training.

->Adapted Personal Training

Adapted Personal Training provides the bridge between post-rehabilitation and functional daily fitness. Individualized exercise programs are developed based on physician and physical therapist recommendations. Financial assistance available

 

->Fitness Testing

Comprehensive Fit Check
Measure your fitness goals and track your progress with a comprehensive body measurement test that includes body fat, cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility.

Body Fat Testing
Measure your total body fat compared to your lean muscle mass and learn how it impacts your overall health.

Small Group Training
Make strides in your workouts with the combination of personal attention and group encouragement. With class sizes of 6 people or less, you will get individualized instruction in a supportive group dynamic. Available for adults, teens and youth.

->Fitlinxx

Free computerized training system designed to empower exercisers to achieve their personal fitness goals.

Benefits of FitLinxx

  • Records exercises you do, including the weight you’ve lifted and the calories you’ve burned.
  •  Helps you achieve a consistent, customized workout every time, at your own pace.
  • Includes step-by-step instructions, immediate feedback, and coaching from exercise to exercise.
  • Remembers your personalized settings on strength training and cardio equipment.
  • Enables you to access your information online and update your workouts at home.
  • Helps you stay motivated with monthly progress reports and stay connected to your YMCA wellness coach.

Mind, Body and Life Enrichment

YMCA Mind, Body and Life Enrichment programs help improve overall wellness with program that focus on spirit, mind and body. Programs change throughout the year and include classes like Pilates with Props, Couple Shiatsu Massage, Mindful Meditation, Hiking, Prenatal Yoga, Latin Dance, and much more.

Recreational Swimming

The Palo Alto Family YMCA aquatic center features a 25 yard, 6 lane lap pool, warm water recreation and exercise pool, and spa. Experience the benefits:

Pool temperatures right for a multitude of activities:

  • The Instructional Pool, kept around 82 degrees, is ideal for youth swim lessons, exercise programs, and adapted training.
  • The Fitness Pool, kept around 87 degrees, is idea for fitness swimming, swim clubs, and deep water fitness classes.

Our state-of-the-art Ultra Violet Filtration System:

  • Improves water and air quality
  • Reduces red eyes and skin irritation
  • Minimizes exposure to bacteria and viruses

Adult Aquatics

We offer a variety of water based fitness and wellness programs for adults. Join our energetic instructors and welcoming class setting for programs like Adult Swim Club, Aqua Boot Camp, Arthritis class, Aqua Pilates, Deep Water Fitness, Shallow Water Fitness, Swim Stroke Clinics, Water Walking and more! We also offer Adult Swim Lessons and periodic Lifeguarding Courses.

Active Older Adults

Active Older AdultsThe Palo Alto Family YMCA is committed to helping our community members age successfully through physically and socially active lifestyles. Whether you are already active or hoping to get active, we have programs ideal for members 50 years and up. And it’s a great tribute to the commitment of our Active Older Adults that we have many members in their 90s and 100s!

Join our energetic instructors and welcoming class setting. We offer a number of low-impact, water and land based group exercise classes each week.
