Leader in Training Program (LIT)
Each summer here at the Northwest YMCA we offer Teen Leadership Camps as part of our Summer Day Camp Program. Teen Leadership Camps are specifically designed for our future leaders. The program operates in three phases:
Leadership I (Phase I)
This phase is for the first time leader. During the week teens will develop basic leadership skills; enjoy team building activities; receive training in behavior and risk management, supervision, and water safety; observe camp staff; and learn camp songs.
Leadership II (Phase II)
Our 2nd phase drives deeper into more advanced leadership skills, team building, YMCA history and mission, character and asset development, diversity issues, inclusion and self-evaluation.
Leaders In Training Fieldwork (Phase III)
LIT Fieldwork enables teens to put the leadership skills learned in the first two phases to the test. Teens are placed into camps with trained YMCA Staff. They assist directors, help lead games, lead arts and crafts, and sing camp songs. LITs also lead a group activity with their campers and are evaluated by staff at the end of the week. LIT teens are not staff and will not be left alone with the younger campers. |

YMCA Model Legislature & Court (MLC)

Weekly meetings prepare students for this experience.

Youth Strength Training & Nutrition
Throughout the school year, our Northwest YMCA Health & Fitness staff will be on site at our child care centers to engage the children in a variety of physical activities. Also, in a structured setting, we create a lively and educational opportunity for your children to learn what they need to know about the importance of staying healthy. This includes discussions on nutrition and diet, general health and fitness concerns, and disease and injury prevention.
Dodge Ball League (Ages 9 to 14)
Our Dodge Ball leagues are designed for all ability levels. The only prerequisite is that participants are open to learning about fair play and teamwork.
