Living Strong Living Well™ is a 12-week, small-group strength and fitness program for adult cancer survivors who have recently become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued from treatment or disease. In our small group setting, you’ll regain energy, strength and stamina while building muscle mass, increasing flexibility and endurance, and improving your quality of life.

The program meets twice a week for 75 minutes each session and is offered to you at no cost, thanks to support from generous donors, the Stanford Health Improvement Program, and the Y. You do not need to be a Y member to participate..

->Personal Training

Personal Training is specifically tailored to your needs. A certified personal trainer will guide you through a customized program and help you get the results you need in the fastest and most effective way possible.  You are instructed in all components necessary to alter body composition, the use of proper bio-mechanics, anatomy, physiology, proper nutrition, and more. Download our latest Personal Training flyer.

Small Group Personal Training provides the benefit of a Personal trainer with the energy and inspiration of a group. All groups are designed for progressive results and fitness levels. Taught in a semi-private environment, these classes build confidence and power - enhancing work capacity in formats designed to burn fat and calories, build upper and lower body strength, and improve endurance. Find out more in our Small Group Personal Training brochure.

->Pre/Post Natal Exercise Programs

It’s important for the health of mothers-to-be and new mothers to receive regular exercise. El Camino YMCA’s Pre/Post Natal Exercise program follows the American College of OB/GYN guidelines and our classes are carefully monitored and modified. A physician’s consent is required to register. For more information contact Harleen Sandhu: harleen.sandhu@ymcasv.org.

->Nutrition Counseling

Let us be your Nutrition Coach! Proper nutrition is vital to a healthy lifestyle and our registered dietitian can provide you with strategies for healthy eating. Set up an individual session for a diet analysis and customized meal plan, or join our Give Weight Away program, to help you reach your goals. Proper nutrition can help you increase your energy, lower your blood pressure and cholesterol and help with weight management and weight loss. Click here to read more in our Nutrition services brochure. Contact Kim Verity MA MS at Kimberly.verity@ymcasv.org

->Body Composition Analysis

This program is designed to help you establish and identify your body fat percentage vs. lean body mass. A YMCA Fitness Specialist will conduct a caliper test and evaluate four to seven different sites of the body. The idea is to establish a starting point to better track your progress throughout your fitness programs. The test is recommended for all members over the age of 18 who want to alter their body composition. We invite and encourage all members who have not had a body composition analysis to register for one at the Member Services Desk. This program is by appointment only.
