Fitness Center

Our state of the art fitness center provides excellent cross-training benefits with both strength training and cardiovascular equipment. YMCA trainers will introduce you to our Fitness Center and work with you to develop a Personalized Fitness Program.

->Cardiovascular Equipment

We have a variety of state of the art cardiovascular machines including treadmills, elliptical cross-trainers, steppers, rowing machines, and upright and recumbent stationary bicycles.

->Cardio Theater

All cardio equipment is connected to Cardio Theater allowing you to watch television while exercising. Please note that each member will need to supply his/her own personal headphones to enjoy the audio portion of the broadcast.

->FitLinxx

FitLinxx is an interactive fitness network designed to make sure you get a personalized workout each and every time you exercise. The system is designed to give you instant feedback while you exercise on the CYBEX equipment AND for your fitness coach to monitor your progress, helping you reach your peak potential. Each piece of equipment works a specific muscle group and is safe, effective, fun and easy to use.

Using FitLinxx at the YMCA lets you:

  • Exercise using a customized program geared to your goals, needs and constraints.

  • Receive personalized support from your Fitness Coach.

  • Get immediate feedback on your precise exercise movements.

  • Track your workout progress.

->Personal Health and Wellness Orientation

The East Valley Family YMCA offers all facility members a one-on-one orientation concluding with the development of a personalized fitness program. 

With your Personal Health and Wellness Orientation you will:

  • Feel confident with an exercise program that is right for YOU.

  • Feel successful with equipment that is easy to use and an exercise routine that is easy to stick with.

  • Stay motivated with guidance and encouragement from our friendly staff.

  • Become committed to exercise through the routine of a structured program.

  • Personal goal setting and strategies to help you achieve your goals

Make your appointment today through the Member Service Center. Available free of charge to facility members. 

->Youth Orientation

The Youth Orientation has been designed to introduce youth ages 9-12 to workout safely using selectorized equipment, free weights, and cardiovascular machines. Proper weight room demeanor will be discussed. Program participants will also be taught the proper usage of cable attachments, collars, and all bars.  Upon completion of the course, youth ages 11 & 12 will be able to access the fitness center and free weight room without a parent/guardian present.  Youth ages 9 & 10 are required to have a parent/guardian present during their workout.

->Free Weight Room

The free weight room has a variety of benches and equipment including: Smith machine, power rack, chest press, incline chest press bench, decline bench, flat bench, cable crossover, lat pull down, and dumbbells ranging from 2.5 lbs. to 100 lbs.

->Group Exercise

The East Valley Family YMCA offers a wide variety of group exercise classes from traditional step aerobics to aqua aerobics. We strive to accommodate all fitness levels in every class; you are always encouraged to work at your own pace. Please be on time to class, to allow your body to warm up. Before starting any new exercise program please consult your physician.

 


Specialized Health & Well-being Programs

Several specialized health and wellness programs are offered at the East Valley Family YMCA to improve your overall wellness and provide personalized attention to your health and wellness needs.

->Personal Training

Our Personal Training Program is individualized and specifically tailored to your needs. Our certified personal trainers guide you through a customized program, which gets you the results you need in the fastest and most effective way possible. You are instructed in all components necessary to alter body composition, the use of proper bio-mechanics, anatomy, physiology, proper nutrition, and more. Click here for more information.

The YMCA has been America's leading swim instructor for more than 100 years. But our aquatics programs extend beyond instruction. We also provide recreational and specialty aquatics programs for all ages and abilities, including parent-child classes, water exercise and therapy, and water safety and rescue classes.

Adult Swim Lessons

Adult Swim Lessons offered at the East Valley Family YMCA follow national aquatic program guidelines designed to help participants use swimming as a method to develop the whole person in spirit, mind, and body.

->Beginner - Adult

This is a water adjusting class for adults with no previous water experience. The entire session is devoted to assisting swimmers to develop basic swimming skills, including: underwater breath control, blowing bubbles, back/front floating and front/back flutter kick with an individual flotation device.

->Intermediate - Adult

The focus of the session is development of basic stroke techniques, including: freestyle, backstroke and elementary backstroke. Participants must be able to do 20 consecutive bobs, front/back float and front/back flutter kick with an individual flotation device.

->Advanced - Adult

An introduction of various strokes, including: breaststroke, butterfly and sidestroke. A small portion of survival skills will also be taught to help participants develop into well-rounded swimmers.

->Masters Swim

Masters Swim is for novice-to-advanced adult swimmers that are looking for new challenges in a coached environment. If you are a regular lap swimmer that has a hard time staying motivated or you are just looking for improved technique, speed, and endurance, then Masters Swim Team may be for you.

The Masters Swim program is for all levels and abilities of adult lap swimmers. It is the perfect training for a triathlon or just for health improvement.


Aqua Exercise

Aqua exercise classes incorporate the use of water resistance to provide participants with a low-impact cardiovascular workout.

->Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program

This class was co-developed by the Arthritis Foundation and the YMCA to offer relief to individuals with Arthritis or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The class provides gentle motion and activities in water to help increase joint flexibility, range of motion, muscle strength and endurance. For more information, please call 408-715-6545.

 

Recreational & Lap Swimming

Special times are available for members interested in both lap swimming and recreational swim.

->Recreational Swim
Special times are available for anyone interested in enjoying the aquatic facility in a fun, relaxing environment. Certain requirements apply for children who wish to swim without an adult in the water.

->Lap Swimming
Swimming is great exercise! Do a serious water workout or just get your heart rate up a little. Lanes are designated for fast, medium or slow-paced swimmers.
