Sports and Recreation

At the Y, sports and recreational activities are something special. Friendly competition (even with yourself), lots of variety and a supportive environment means team sports and recreation is fun again, and it makes for a healthier lifestyle and a good story or two.

So many activities serve to restore our spirits and energy, get us outdoors or test our limits. And for many of us, they’re the foundation of active living and rewarding relationships. Many recreational activities are available at your Y, so it may be time for you to try something new.

Like all Y programs, sports and recreation is open to all, with financial assistance available.

Pickup Basketball at Central YMCA

Our full court gymnasium accommodates organized youth sports, provides open hours for members to shoot hoops, or play pick-up games.

Full court Pick-Up Games:

  • Mondays  11:00am—1:55pm, 4:00pm—5:00pm, 8:00pm—9:00pm
  • Tuesdays  11:00am—1:55pm, 8:00pm—9:00pm
  • Wednesdays  11:00am—1:55pm, 4:00pm—5:00pm 8:00pm—9:00pm
  • Thursdays  11:00am—1:55pm, 8:00pm—9:00pm
  • Fridays  11:00am—1:55pm, 4:00pm—5:00pm, 8:00pm—9:00pm

->HIKING CLUB

Central YMCA's Hiking Club

Explore the beautiful Bay Area with the members of Central YMCA’s Hiking Club. Enjoy hiking a different trail every Saturday and explore all the beautiful dirt paths the South Bay has to offer. Hikers of all levels are
welcome. Pack your own snacks, water, and layers. Join our Hiking Club and explore the outdoors. Register at our Member Services office.

Central YMCA's Walking Club

Enjoy a fast-paced walk through the neighborhoods surrounding the Y. Appropriate for beginners and older adults.

->HOMESCHOOL PE

Homeschooled students 5-16 years old can participate in our homeschool PE program. The class format varies, always emphasizing physical activity and sports. Structured activities include basketball, soccer, running, calisthenics training, strength and coordination training, indoor and outdoor games.

Tuesdays & Thursdays 2:00-3:00pm
