YMCA of Silicon Valley
YMCA of Silicon Valley is a volunteer-led public charity that works collaboratively with community partners to improve the lives of children, adults, families, and the entire community. Our purpose is to strengthen and enrich the development of individuals and families through quality programs and services that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Integral to everything that we do are our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our association of YMCAs serves people of all backgrounds, ages, capabilities and income levels, providing financial assistance to those in need.
Encouraging, supporting and improving healthy living habits, among our members and throughout the community, are central to our purpose. Our work also focuses on youth development through a wide variety of programs such as child and after school care, teen activities, day and resident camps, swim lessons, organized sports, and parent-child adventures.
Financial assistance may be available for you and your entire family to join, thanks to the generosity of our donors. The YMCA uses 100 percent of donor contributions to provide financial assistance for members and to subsidize a wide range of programs. Our goal is to provide financial assistance to anyone who needs it to participate.
As one of the 15 largest YMCA associations in the U.S. and the 4th largest nonprofit in Silicon Valley, we serve nearly 190,000 members from communities that span from Gilroy to Redwood City and from the Pacific Coast to the San Francisco Bay.
Our locations include 10 YMCA full facilities and YMCA Camp Campbell, a wilderness resident camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We partner with the City of Morgan Hill to operate health and fitness programming for all ages and senior adult activities at the Centennial Recreation Center.
YMCA of Silicon Valley has a presence in 200 schools throughout the region, providing childcare, after school programs, health and fitness activities, and initiatives to engage adults with youth for positive experiences. We also partner with nearly 100 other community organizations to help children and adults live healthier and become more active.
How We Are Funded:
YMCA funding is generated from membership and program fees, individual and corporate donors, foundations and grants, and the United Way of Silicon Valley. The annual Community Support Campaign raises money for financial assistance to ensure that no one is turned away for lack of funds in an atmosphere of inclusion and support. The expansion of local facilities is done through the YMCA Capital Development Campaign, contributing to the health and well-being of residents throughout the surrounding areas.
Organizational Structure:
YMCA of Silicon Valley is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The YMCA Board of Directors sets policy and oversees activities of the entire Association. In addition, each of the YMCA locations throughout the YMCA of Silicon Valley is governed by its own Board of Managers.
